BRICS Building Blocks. Exploring Innovative Solutions within BRICS Countries

Megacities are most acutely affected by global challenges such as climate change and growing social inequalities. Responding to these challenges can be part of the transition of countries and cities to the information society. Effective construction of a new management model implies developing a digitalization strategy with international experience.

As part of the preparation of the BRICS International Innovation Forum “Cloud City,” a special study was prepared, the authors of which highlighted the key features of global development as applied to megacities and analyzed the innovative solutions used to benefit from the trends and offset the negative consequences of the associated challenges. Experts from BRICS cities told the authors how specific solutions are being applied in cities they know. During the session, the authors will present the main findings of their research and discuss them with experts from different fields.

  • What challenges does technology development yield? What challenges can technologies most successfully respond to?
  • What technologies should be emphasized in the informatization of cities in the first place – are there any general formulas?
  • How can the experience of BRICS cities help Moscow on its way to building a digital ecosystem – Cloud City?
