Digital Footprint. Comfort vs Privacy?
The modern city, with its isolated housing and triumph of anonymity in tight spaces, has become the manifesto and ultimate achievement of individualism and the right to privacy. Still, the digital transformation is forcing everyone not just to leave a digital footprint but be on the radar for a significant part of their lives. Digital doppelgangers, digital passports, wallets, and medical records – the more active consumers are online, the more at risk their data and possibly themselves. The digital footprint we leave behind is collected, processed, and shared by an increasing number of organizations and communities. Their number is increasing, and only some are controllable.
- What imbalances and threats does digitalization create for cities, and how can they be countered?
- The argument between freedom and security is getting a new emphasis: what is more important to us – the comfort of urban life or the right to privacy?
- What new social contract will form the basis of the future urban community?
