How Do We Measure Human-Centricity? Happiness Metrics for a Smart City

We are already used to technology helping us measure urban processes: to assess traffic congestion and carbon dioxide emissions or to calculate a comprehensive index of the quality of the urban environment. Yet, it is still necessary to identify the relationship between the introduction of digitalization programs and the desire of citizens to live in a particular city without the help of a computer.

  • What are the goals of digitalization programs, and how do they improve the life of a citizen? Can we borrow metrics from businesses to assess the satisfaction of residents?
  • Who should be responsible for human-centricity indicators?
  • How to link a smart city with the principles of sustainable development?
  • Soon, will we be able to measure the degree of happiness of citizens with street sensors?
